Vocation Awareness Week in Baguio <br>held Jan. 29 – Feb. 7, 2011

“The Family- Cradle of Vocations,” is the  theme of Vocation Awareness Week  organized  by the Association of Women Religious of Baguio-Benguet.  Vocation Walk from Baguio Cathedral to Burnham Park and back was the first activity held last January 29, 2011.   The vocation walk was  followed by the opening of Exhibits at the Baguio cathedral grounds and  Eucharist at 12.15 noon.

Contrary to the  article on Philippine Daily Inquirer front page news of “singing and dancing nuns”   that  highlighted  “recruitment”, the focus  of Vocation Awareness Week is the family as the seedbed of vocations.

The mini concert  that is going around  parishes, universities,  public and private schools  has the participation of  a nuclear family, deaf and mute boys,  Maryknoll choir, several men congregations and  eleven women congregations, including Good Shepherd. Sr. Jeva Sumbillo is our representative.

There are ten scheduled mini concerts and  last  Feb. 2, 2011 Mountain Maid Training Center hosted the concert at 5.30 p.m.  The crew members  of  ABS-CBN TV Patrol Northern Luzon were present  and gave us  the assurance that their reporting will be faithful to the theme which is The Family-Cradle of Vocations.
