St. Bridget College presents Yakap ng Pastol on October 18

St. Bridget College in Batangas City will present on October 18, "Yakap ng Pastol" as part of the concluding activities of the Philippine Province's Centennial Celebrations.

The creative presentation of the missionof the Good Shepherd Sisters will be staged at 9 a.m. at the SBC-Manuela Q Pastor Auditorium and will be preceded by a thanksgiving Mass at 8 a.m. to be presided by Msgr. Rafael Oriondo.

Good Shepherd Sisters from the different communities in the country are expected to attend. Among those expected are sisters from the Good Shepherd Community, Heart of Mary Villa, Euphrasian Community, St. Bridget School - QC, Provincialate, in Quezon City, Welcome House/Malate,  and Tahanan in Manila, and Maryridge, Bukid Kabataan and Contemplatives in Cavite.

The first Irish missionaries Sr. Mary Constance Phelan and
Sr. Mary Ligouri Burke arrived in the Philippines on October 4, 1912, proceeded to Batangas, and recommended the opening of a new foundation. Several months later  on January 1913,  Sr. Mary
Cyra O’Kane and Sr. Mary Clare Morrisey opened nformal classes for girls and on June 9, 1913 the school was given government
recognition and incorporated as St. Bridget’s Academy, after St. Bridget
of Ireland. 

This 2013, SBC is celebrating its centennial.
