The 11th General Assembly of the St. Mary Euphrasia Integrated Development Foundation Inc (SMEIDFI) was held on April 25, Good Shepherd Sunday, at the Rosary Hall in Quezon City.
SMEIDFI is the Philippine Province’s social welfare/social development arm and a unifying mechanism for our ministries.
The creation of the Foundation was motivated by a need to comply with Government requirement, specifically RA4373 – “an act to regulate the practice of Social Work and the operation of Social Work Agencies in the
SMEIDFI focuses on residential and pastoral ministries and takes care of the training for professionalization and relates with the government for licensing and accreditation. It coordinates with the Ministry Team to ensure aligning of the vision, mission, goals of each ministry with the thrust of the congregation in coordination with WJPIC Team whose function is orientational.
Present during the assembly were Good Shepherd Sisters from the following agencies/communities: Bahay Pastulan, Bahay Ugnayan, Bukid Kabataan, Maayong Pagbalantay, Center for Overseas Workers- Davao, Center for Overseas Workers- Quezon City, Damayan Center, Euphrasian Residence, Good Shepherd Home - Legapsi, Good Shepherd Homei- Naga, Good Shepherd - Isabela, SBC Community Center, Villa Maria- Cebu, Maryridge-Tagaytay, Welcome House, Kalilid and Malate.
SMEIDFI President, Sr. Cecilia Torres RGS, and SMEIDFI CEO Sr. Ailyn Binco RGS presented their reports. During this year's annual meting, SMEIDFI members also reviewed the foundation's vision and mission and aligned these with the Philippine Province's vison and mission. Plenary and small group discussions were also held.
The assembly addressed the current challenges in the ministry, the sustainability of projects and how the Philippine Province could respond to the needs of the poor and better deliver services especially to women, children and families.
Ms. Gertrude Ranjo-Libang of Gabriela has been invited to speak about Republic Act 9710 or Magna Carta of Women. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on August 14, 2009 signed into law the measure
prohibiting discrimination against women, and recognizing and promoting
their rights.

Hall in Malacañang Palace, ensures women’s equitable participation and
representation in government, political parties, international bodies,
civil service and the private sector.
During the Assembly, the members elected two new members of the Board of Trustees: Srs. Gemma Dinglasan RGS of Bukid Kabataan and Srs. Edna Fuentes of Maayong Pagbalantay in Iligan. They replaced Srs. Lilia Flores who finished her term and Sr. Patricia Perez who represented Rose Virginie Pelletier, Baguio and is now a member of the Province Leadership Team.
The BOT is now composed of Srs. Joseph Olaguer, Bernadette Guzman, Henedina Mananzan, Lorenza Sangalang, Lydia Ebora, Alice Andres, Edna Fuentes and Gemma Dinglasan.

The Board of Trustees of SMEIDFI met on April 26 at the Christine Hall, Good Shepherd Provincialate on April 26 to discuss important concerns arising from the General Assembly held the previous day, April 25. Srs. Joseph Olaguer, Bernadette Guzman, Henedina Mananzan, Lorenza Sangalang, Lydia Ebora, Alice Andres, Edna Fuentes and Gemma Dinglasan with Srs. Ailyn Binco, SMEIDFI Chief executive officer and Sr. Cecilia Torres, SMEIDFI president, and Sr. Maureen Catabian, Province Leadership Team met at the Christine Hall. |
