Representatives from the nine units of Good
Shepherd Sisters in Asia Pacific participated in the Child Safeguarding and Protection
Workshop held in Bangkok, Thailand from September 10-15.
The facilitator of the workshop was Ms. Maryam
Ehsani, a Consultant and Child Safeguarding specialist, and currently engaged
to formulate the Good Shepherd Congregation’s Child Safeguarding Policy.
The Justice and Peace core team of Asia
Pacific coordinated this activity for the Provinces of Central East India/Nepal,
East Asia (Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia), Indonesia, Northeast Asia (HongKong,
South Korea, Taiwan, Macau), Philippines-Japan, Singapore-Malaysia, Southwest
India and Sri Lanka-Pakistan.
Participants from Philippines-Japan
included Sr. Minela Alvarez, Sr. Ailyn Binco, Sr. Ananita Borbon, Ms. Novelita
Baralas and Sr. Clare Nagashima.
They were among 43 participants, sisters
and lay who learned from one another, shared and planned on how we can all
help in the safeguarding and protection of children.
