"Compassion" is theme of annual retreat

"Compassion" is the theme of the annual retreat for Good Shepherd Sisters scheduled May 8-13 in Maryridge, Tagaytay City.

More than 40 sisters from the different Good Shepherd communities, apostolic and contemplative,  in the Philippines are participating in the retreat. Facilitator is Fr. Manuel "Manoling" V. Francisco SJ, assistant professor of systematic theology at the Loyola School of Theology in Quezon City.

Fr. Manoling holds a doctorate in Systematic theology from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Massachusetts. 

 

He is also a composer and is known for his classic "Hindi Kita Malilimutan, "Tanging Yaman", "Sa 'Yo Lamang", "One More Gift", "Take and Receive", and "I will Sing Forever" compositions. Many of his compositions are a rich contribution to Philippine liturgical music. He is co-founder of Bukas Palad Music Ministry and executive director of Tanging Yaman Foundation, Inc.

Fr. Manoling said  that when he is with the Good Shepherd Sisters, he is better known as "nephew of Sr. Guada" (Sr. Guadalupe V. Bautista RGS).

Sr. Patricia Perez of the Continuing Formation, said that the theme "Compassion" is a deepening of our Good Shepherd spirituality especially as the Good Shepherd Sisters mark this 2012 the Centennial of presence in the Philippines. Last year's theme was, "Reconciliation."

Another retreat, organized by the Philipine Province is scheduled in July, and will be on the Journey of Enrichment.
