Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was elected Pope during the Conclave that followed after the death of Pope John Paul II on April 2, 2005. The Conclave began on April 18 and Cardinal Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was elected on the fourth ballot, on April 19.
We pray for the Holy Father Benedict XVI and for the 2013 Conclave that will elect the next pope.
