Day 2
The second day began with a
short video message of Sr. Ellen Kelly from Rome. Sr. Brigid afterwards read
Sr. Ellen’s message to the Chapter which we are sharing with you (see
attached).
We then had a Spirit filled
conversation with our three mission partners who bravely shared the experiences
of the lay partners with us, sisters. It brought forth the lay partners’ desire
for compassionate and right relationships, joint formation and for the
transformation of sisters’ attitudes towards them.
The Province Leader’s Report
was given in the afternoon by Sr. Regina Kuizon. She gave us a review of what
has been for the last six years in order to provide direction as we move
forward.
The
global realities of the corona virus pandemic continued to challenged us to be
flexible in the Chapter. With the President’s announcement last night that
foreigners were to leave the Philippines within 72 hours, Sr. Brigid had to
book a flight for the morning of March 19. This led to another change in our
schedule in the Chapter to avail of her presence during the discernment of the
Province Leadership Team. We thus momentarily said goodbye to our mission
partners and to welcome them back once the elections are over for the
discussion of priorities and the Chapter Direction statement.
We then moved to the
discernment process. Sr. Brigid drew out our personal understanding of
discernment and gave some input on what discernment is. She presented a process
for discernment which the body approved. The voting delegates left the Chapter
hall in silence and were invited to keep their silence in order to nurture
their discerning hearts for the elections.
We ask you to be with us in prayer during this time as
we select our leaders for the next six years.
