WOMEN  AND CHILDREN

RIGHTS!

The Context...

In a country where 87% are living below the poverty threshold, women and children are forced into situations in which they are vulnerable to all forms of abuse and exploitation.

As of 2008, data from the  Phil. National Police and Dept. of Social Welfare and Development  shows that a child is abused every 56 minutes.  Child battering at 55.7% records the highest number of cases, followed by rape and attempted rape in violence against children cases.

In cases of violence against women , 2008 data shows that a woman is abused every 1 hour and 3 minutes.  Domestic violence and women battering at 67.7% records the highest number of cases in violence against women.
