The
Asia Pacific Circle of Province Leaders met in Maryridge, Tagaytay from October
1-2, 2015. The meeting followed the six-week Asia Pacific Formators Session
that was also held in Maryridge.
Present
were Srs. Monica Walsh, Australia/New Zealand; Sabina Pathrose, Central East
India; Regina Htoohtoo, East Asia; Chatarina Supatmiyati, Indonesia;
Marie Jean Bae, Northeast Asia; Regina Kuizon, Philippines; Joan Lopez,
Singapore/Malaysia, Francine Muthugala , Sri Lanka/Pakistan. Also present was
Sr. Ma. Teresa Pomar of the Congregational Leadership Team
Facilitator of the two-day meeting was Sr. Anne Dalton of Australia.
Among the reports given
were on, Asia Pacific Justice and Peace, AP Formation, AP Spirituality, Good
Shepherd Asia Pacific Partnerhsip, GS AP Website, Treasurer's Report. The Asian
province leaders also tackled the 2015 Chapter Direction Statement and chose
the priorities that they would implement in the region.
Other
projects discussed were: Matters/issues for discussion/to be taken up from the
30th Congregational Chapter Direction Statement, especially training for
sisters and lay partners on justice and peace; Discussion paper on Networking
at Asia Pacific level for Anti Human Trafficking, Proposal for Cross Border Networking/Sharing of
Resources, Update on Regional MDO, Concept Paper to Hilton Foundation for
funding by Christina Duranti for Capacity Building and Leadership Training for
Mission Partners.
The group also affirmed the need for the integrated approach to mission as
articulated during the Inter-continental assembly in 2914 and the
Congregational Chapter 2015. It is the collaboration of sisters involved in
spirituality, justice and peace and mission development.
Before the meeting, several members of the group crossed Taal Lake and
trekked the 4.5 kilometers footpath to Taal Volcano for the breathtaking view
of the lake within the lake.
