Christmas Sharing

The Christmas season was a season of sharing. Reedley International School was among those groups who shared gifts with the children, teenagers and women served by the Good Shepherd Sisters.

Ms. Regina de la Cruz, project coordinator of Reedley located in Libis, Quezon City, explained to the children, staff and Good Shepherd Sisters gathered at the RGS Christine Hall, the desire of the students to share their blessings at Christmas time. Representatives of various programs also shared about the services offered by the Good Shepherd Sisters to women and children.

Faculty and staff of the school came on December 7 with toys, clothes and food items shared by students with Heart of Mary Villa, Euphrasian Community, Bukid Kabataan, Kabataan ng Mabuting Pastol and Ruhama Center.

At Heart of Mary Villa, the school shared infant formula, medicines, diapers for the babies and clothes, grocery items like sardines, noodles, milk, coffee, juice drink, cookies to the women in the residence. Children of Kabataan ng Mabuting Pastol, an outreach program for elementary students within the neighbourhood, also received toys and grocery items.

Good Shepherd Sister Mary Assumpta Lim of Kabataan ng Mabuting Pastol explained the catechism classes conducted to the students who come to the convent on Saturdays while, Sr. Amor Samonte of Euphrasian Community explained the wholistic healing offered by the residence to the teenagers. Lay mission partners Ms. Maricel Sevilla of the Heart of Mary Villa Nursery and Ms. Veronica Umagi of HMV Residence provided an overview of the services rendered by the center to help women and their babies.

Though children in Bukid Kabataan in General Trias, Cavite and women in Ruhama Center in Marikina were not able to come, their goods were picked up the following day.

Canned goods, clothes, bottled water and toys were also given to the victims of typhoon Yolanda through the Good Shepherd Convent. The Sisters who went to Samar from December 19-22 were happy to deliver the goods and children particularly were delighted to receive toys for Christmas.
