November 21 Feast of the Presentation of Mary and Perpetual Vows of Sr. Cielo

On November 21, feast of the Presentation of Mary,  Sr. Ma. Ana Cielo Matuloy pronounced her vows perpetually as a Good Shepherd Sister before Sr. Mary Cecilia Torres, province leader, and Fr. Russell Matuloy, presider of the Eucharistic celebration.

Concelebrants during the Mass were Fr. Glenn Cantos of the Archdiocese of Lipa, Fr. Ron Bagley and Fr. Edem Afotou of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. Deacon Erwin Aguilar of the Oblates of St. Joseph read the Gospel.

Present during the celebrations were members of Sr. Cielo's family, Good Shepherd Sisters, friends, families, especially children from communities in Bukid Kabataan, Bagong Silangan, Tahanan and lay affiliates. Sisters, staff and vocation contacts from St. Bridget College, where Sr. Cielo studied in high school, and Sr. Louise Kham, representative of Good Shepherd- Hongkong, where Sr. Cielo had her international apostolic experience in 2012.

In his homily, Fr. Glenn, noted that as Sr. Cielo makes her profession of vows, so many people have been inspired to respond to the needs of the victims of typhoon Yolanda and have joined in volunteering their resources and services to help them. Fr. Glenn also asked what could be the difference between a consecrated person and a committed laity. Sr. Cielo, he said, is always called to have a big heart.

The day is also significant as perpetually professed sisters make their annual devotional renewal of vows, following the example of Mary who offered herself to God, in the temple.

After communion, there was a tribute to the Cassandra Martyrs, who offered their lives to save women and children before mv Cassandra sank in northeastern Mindanao on November 21, 1983.

Sr, Cielo thanked her parents, and siblings, sisters, friends and benefactors who all are part of her formation.

Sr. Cielo made her first profession of vows on April 24, 2008. In her years as temporary professed sister, Sr. Cielo was assigned in Bukid Kabataan in Cavite, Good Shepherd- Naga, Tahanan in Sta. Ana and Good Shepherd- Hongkong. In 2011, she had her theological studies at the Institute of Formation and Religious Studies (IFRS).
