Prayer Rally and Lighting of Candles for Fr. Fausto Tentorio

Good Shepherd Sisters and members of various religious congregations gathered October 22 to stage a prayer rally and lighting of candles for Fr. Fausto Tentorio, PIME who was killed October 17 in Mindanao.

Sisters and friends prayed the rosary and made a procession towards Aurora Boulevard where they lighted candles for Fr. Tentorio.

Fr. Tentorio, 59 years old, was an Italian Missionary, a member of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME).

He was a beloved missionary of 31 years, 28 of which had been spent in Mindanao. With zeal, he pursued the service for the downtrodden in Mindanao: the farmers and the indigenous peoples.

Earlier, the Good Shepherd Sisters in Mindanao also issued a statement denouncing the brutal killing of Fr. Tentorio. They also called to put an end to impunity, "In this affront to peace, we call on President Aquino to stop the political killings in this country, to cease the operation of Oplan Bayanihan and to put an end to impunity and bring to justice the countless victims of extra-judicial killings."
