RGS Forum on Migration set July 13

An RGS Forum on Migration :" The Power of Creating Alternatives- The Voice of Migrants in Latin America"  will be held at the Rosary Hall of the Good Shepherd Convent, 1043 Aurora Blvd., Quezon City on July 13, from  2-5 p.m. 

 

According to Sr. Maureen Catabian RGS, of the Ministry/Women Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation (WJPIC) of the Philippine Province, the resource speaker is Ms. Rosa Martha Zarate Macias, a social activist from Mexico.

 

Rosa Martha Zarate Macias is with the Alianza de ExBraceros del Norte 1942/1964, a movement campaigning for justice for the Mexicans who worked under the Braceros program between the governments of Mexico and the USA. She is also with a network of migrants, peoples organizations, church institutions, activists and human rights advocates actively working to end the violence confronted by migrants crossing the US-Mexican border.

 

She is also an established musician. As a singer-composer-guitarist, she has already performed in various countries in America and Europe, sharing her music that is devoted to the oppressed and marginalized peoples of Latin and Central America.

 

Sr. Maureen said the forum is open not only to Good Shepherd Sisters but to Good Shepherd Lay Mission Partners as well. She said, “through this Forum we shall listen to the songs, hopes and struggles of migrants in another part of the world - the Americas  to be in solidarity with them.”

 

The Forum is organized by WJPIC—RGS, in coordination with Task Force for Urban Conscientization of the Association of Major Religious Superiors (TFUC—AMRSP) and Migrante International.
