Care for Our Common Home

“Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who
sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers
and herbs.” #LaudatoSi' 1 (quoting St Francis' Canticle of Creatures)

Last June 25, Philippine Arbor Day, the sisters, staff, and student workers of Mountain Maid Training Center planted guavas, coffee, molave, and narra seedlings. This has been a yearly activity of the community. Proclamation No. 643 -2004 by then President Arroyo institutionalized Arbor Day, to be observed by the whole nation  by “planting trees and ornamental plants and other forms of relevant activities.”

Recently, our sisters from Baguio have also been sending us these photos of their abundant
harvests from the Laudato Si' farm in La Union and from the garden.

When we take care of the earth, the earth indeed takes care of us.

Laudato Si' Mi Signore!
