The Mountain Maid Training and Development Foundation (MMTDF) administered by the Good Shepherd Sisters in Baguio City received the SSS’ 2011 Balikat ng Bayan Award as Top Employer for North Luzon-Medium Category.
The Balikat ng Bayan Awards, a project began by the Social Security System in 1995, was given to top deserving private employers who are in partnership with the SSS in providing meaningful social protection to its members.

The 2011 Balikat ng Bayan Award for Mountain Maid was received by Sr. Aimee Olaguer RGS and Sr. Patricia Perez RGS during the 54th Foundation Anniversary of SSS held last September 1 at the SSS Building, East Avenue, Quezon City. Hon. Emilio S. de Quiroz Jr, president and CEO of SSS, Hon. Juan B, Santos of the Social Security Commission, Ms. Judy Frances A. See, chairperson of the Balikat ng Bayan Awards, presented the plaques to the awardees.
The categories include small, medium and large accounts of private employers in the Philippines.
The announcement of the Awards was a welcome news at the Mountain Maid Training and Development Foundation as it has always been consistent in giving social protection to the staff through prompt contributions to the SSS.

MMTDF is able to help families in the Cordillera, and students are able to learn skills at the same time are able to pursue college courses. Mountain Maid is known for the wide selection of cookies, bakery products, ube and strawberry jams. It is famous among tourists in Baguio.
The other awardees include Mercury Drug Corporation, St. Louis University Rural Bank of Camalig in Albay, Rizal Commerical Banking Corporation and Land Bank of the Philippines. (See Complete List below.)
