Mission Development Office (MDO) internship </br><br>for program officer begins this June in Rome

Sr.
Genoveva “Genny” Dumay will have internship as program officer of the Mission
Development Office  (MDO) in Rome
starting June 10, 2010.

Sr.
Brigid Lawlor, congregational leader, wrote in her letter to unit leaders last
May 19 that Sr. Genny was chosen to be an intern at the MDO. Sr. Brigid
said that Sr. Genny has participated in MDO workshops and displays great
skills.

In April,
Sr. Brigid wrote a letter to the unit leaders in the congregation asking for
recommendations  for  an intern for MDO. Ms. Lidia Minozzi,
program officer, will soon be taking her maternity leave and Ms. Cristina
Duranti, MDO director, continues to be on leave caring for her twin daughters.
The six-month internship program will be followed by 1 1/2 years of service at
the MDO.

The
Program Officer will operate in collaboration with the MDO and Good Shepherd
Foundation Director to foster the fundraising initiatives carried on since 2007
in support of the Good Shepherd missions in the developing countries.

The PO will: provide
assistance to the Good Shepherd missions in the developing countries in writing
applications for grants and will be the liaison with the unit leaders and with
the local ministries coordinators; manage the flow of information from the
projects; visit the missions; organize meeting with donors, Congregational
Leadership Team (CLT) and hold training sessions in Rome and in other places;
research new grant opportunities and support Sharing Fair in organizing seasonal
sales in Rome.

The
Province Leadership Team recommended Sr. Genny Dumay who is at present
completing studies in Cambridge, England where she has a University scholarship
as well as support from the Province of Great Britain’s Sr. Mary Thomas Aquinas
Lee Scholarship.

In an email, Sr. Genny said, she welcomes the opportunity to be of service to the congregation through MDO and to be of assistance in its programs for the poor.

Sr. Genny arrived in Rome in the evening of June 8 to prepare for the MDO Committee meetings
that will be held from June 21 to 26. She will be in the Philippines first week of July for homevisit and to get a long-term visa to Italy.
