The Christian message is not bound either by a geographic area or a specific culture. All human beings are cultural beings. Mary, like Jesus must be culturally relevant if she is really to be understood and appreciated. (Louis Luzbetah)

So important a role is ascribed to culture that Paul VI

's Apostolic exhortation in Evangelii Nuntiandi, warns that evangelization loses much of its force and effectiveness it if does not take into consideration the actual people to whom it is addressed, if it odes not use their language, their signs and symbols, if it does nto answer the questions they ask, and if it does not have an impact on their concrete life.
