At the Good Shepherd Convent in Quezon City, the New Year Mass was presided by Fr. Hartono Budi, SJ an Indonesian Jesuit teaching at the Loyola School of Theology. The Mass was participated in by Good Shepherd Sisters, girls and women at the Euphrasian Residence and Heart of Mary Villa, and friends. There was a festive spirit as the Pastorella hymns and Mass service songs were sung.
Happy New Year to all!
Below is the homily of Fr. Hartono SJ : Today's feast, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God reminds us of Mary, the mother of our Good Shepherd - on how Mary allowed God to do with and in her
- on Mary's total availability to God's desire for her
- on Mary's inner attitude that is exemplary for us to grow more in this New Year of 2013, in this Year of Faith.
We could say, what is truly great in Mary is that: being human as we are, she remained always available to what God was asking of her.
A Prayer from John Paul II, Ecclesia in Oceania, 2001
O Mary, help of Christians
in our need we turn to you
with eyes of love, with empty hands and longing hearts
We look to you that we may see your son our Lord
We lift our hands that we may have the bread of life
We open our hearts, to receive the Prince of Peace...
O mater Dei, ora pro nobis
Regina pacis, ora pro nobis
O Stella Maris, ora pro nobis
O Mater de misericordia, ora pro nobis. Amen.
