Good Shepherd Local Leaders’ Meeting scheduled May 24-27 in Baguio

 

Local leaders of the Good Shepherd Sisters in the Philippines will
hold this year’s Local Leaders' Meeting at the Good Shepherd Convent in
Baguio City from May 24-27, 2010.

Twenty-two  (22) local leaders of apostolic sisters and
four local leaders of contemplative sisters will participate in the meeting.
The list of mission assignments for apostolic year 2010-2011 was released on April
24, feast of St. Mary Euphrasia.

The Local Leaders' Meeting was formerly called Coordinators’
Meeting. With the approval of the Integrated Constitutions during the 2009
Congregational Chapter, certain terms were also changed including the word
coordinator.  

The activities will be facilitated by the Province Leadership Team (PLT) .  The PLT is composed of  Sr. Cecilia Torres, province leader, and her
apostolic council  Srs. Maureen Catabian,
Pilar Quemada and Patricia Perez, and her contemplative council, Srs. Celeste
Engutan and Goretti Bool.

Sr. Cecilia said, the theme of the Local Leaders’ Meeting is,
“Weaving New Pathways in Leadership.”  Sr.
Susan Chia
, apostolic link councillor to the Philippines of the Congregational Leadership Team will be present during the meeting.

The objectives include: 1) to nourish the person
of the local leader and enhance governance through SME’s spirituality; 2) to
learn form each others’ experiences in community as they live the goals to
accomplish the broad directions for the apostolic year 2009-2010; 3) to
celebrate and sustain the new pathways for leadership.

Sr. Guadalupe Bautista, the local leader of Good Shepherd Baguio community,
welcomes to Baguio City, the participants of this annual meeting.

As of April 24, 2010, there are 146 apostolic sisters and 22 contemplative sisters of final vows, five temporary professed and two novices in the Philippines. There are, on the other hand, 30 Filipina sisters in overseas mission -- in France, Angola, Austria, Canada, Ethiopia, Hongkong, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Macau, Italy, Senegal, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA.
