The Institute of Formation and Religious Studies (IFRS) held an online graduation ceremonies for its students on May 11, 2020. It was the 24th Commencement Exercises of the Institute.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown in Metro Manila, classes at the school located at N. Domingo Street, in Quezon City were suspended, but alternative ways of having classes online were held.
Sr. Jeanne Luyun, president of IFRS and Dr. Miguel Lambino, academic dean, managed to respond to the challenges caused by the pandemic. Ten students from various congregations and from different countries were among those affected by the lockdown. During the May 11 graduation exercises, they marched to get their certificates and diplomas while earlier the photos of all the 45 graduates were flashed on screen.
Graduates included religious men and women who finished Master of Arts in Religious Studies, Master of Arts in Religious Studeis Major in Theology, Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and Certificates on Religious Studies.
Sr. Ann Rita Centeno, SSC was the graduation speaker who also shared her message online.
Sr. Patricia Nyein Chan of the Religious of the Good Shepherd in Myanmar -- Province of East Asia, was among the graduates. Unable to attend the May 11 graduation in school, she too was in solidarity with the other graduates online.
The sisters in the Good Shepherd Convent in 1043 Aurora Boulevard had a special celebration of Sr. Patricia's graduation on May 20, 2020, with Sr. Clara Loilo and Sr. Elizabeth Joseph as hosts. The sisters watched the parade of graduates online. A copy of Sr. Patricia's certificate was also handed to her by Sr. Regina Kuizon, province leader of RGS Philippines-Japan and secretary of the IFRS Board of Trustees.
The program on May 20 also included the powerpoint presentation of activities that Sr. Patricia participated in at IFRS during the school year 2019-2020. The program was prepared by the Temporary Professed Sisters and TP directress Sr. Emma Marzan.
Simple snacks followed.
