Today, May 10 is Philippine Elections Day. We are providing news of the elections as sent to us by Good Shepherd Sisters and friends nationwide.
The day started early at the Good Shepherd Convent in Quezon City. A Eucharistic Celebration was celebrated by Fr. Roque d'Costa at 5:30 a.m. Sisters went early to the polling centers to cast their votes and then to be pollwatchers in various precincts.
QRT@1043 in charge of food, prepared sandwiches for those who are in the Roving team and those who will go to the polling centers as pollwatchers.

| After breakfast, Good Shepherd Sisters began their Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and prayed for clean, peaceful and honest elections.

Prevalent were long queues in the polling centers, and voters had to spend hours in the precincts to cast their votes. There were voters who, though they arrived early in the polling places, had to leave without being able to cast their votes. In Balara, precincts were located on the third floor of the building and senior citizens had difficulty climbing the stairs. The overcrowded polling places and the heat prompted others to go home. | We joined the group, Kontradaya, in monitoring the conduct of the elections in Manila. We went to the precincts in Ramon Magsaysay High School. Many voters who are senior citizens complained about the precincts located on the second or third floors of the building.

| I was one of several Good Shepherd Sisters who went as PPCRV (Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting) volunteers in Quezon City. In the precincts located at the Project 3 Elementary School, no PCOS machine was defective. The counting of the ballots after 7 p.m. went smoothly and orderly.
