Fifty houses were blessed and given to families in Buruun, Iligan City on December 12, 2013 by Bishop Elenito Galido. The houses were constructed in coordination with several groups.
Sr. Cecilia Torres, province leader, was then in Iligan for a visit and helped in the turn-over the keys of the new houses to the beneficiaries. Twenty of the 50 houses were donated by Good Shepherd Sisters and friends.
The families were among those who lost their dwellings during the December 17, 2011 typhoon Sendong that hit Iligan and Cagayan de Oro.
The Philippine Province also awarded the new houses to families in Cagayan de Oro in 2012.
The families are grateful to the Good Shepherd Sisters whose communities local and international, and friends contributed to make the housing possible.
Good Shepherd communities in the country, tried to provide housing for the families as part of the centennial celebrations. Apostolic and contemplative, mision partnersl concluded the centennial celebrations on October 20, 2013, affirming a century of “Weaving Compassion, Embracing Challenges, Forging Hope.”
