Monsoon rains caused heavy floods in Metro Manila and nearby provinces that prompted government to suspend classes and offices to ensure the safety of the people.

Government agencies have been advised to look after those trapped in the housetops or were stranded on the streets.

The Good Shepherd Sisters, through the Ministry Team and St. Mary Euphrasia Integrated and Development Foundation Inc. (SMEIDFI) sent clothing and relief goods to nearby Barangka High School in Marikina City where more than 800 victims have sought shelter. The Marikina River has reached its critical level of 20 meters and residents of neighborning villages have been asked to evacuate. Food and clothing were also given to the victims seeking assistance through the Mt. Carmel parish in Broadway, Q.C.

At the 1043 compound, sisters, girls and residents of Euphrasian Community, Heart of Mary Villa, Provincialate, St. Bridget School, Good Shepherd Community and St. John's Compound collaborated to deliver the goods to the victims. Sr. Ailyn Binco and Sr. Ananita Borbon have been in touch with those in evacuation centers so they can help the victims.

Though at present there is no typhoon, the monsoon rains have caused heavy rains in a country that has just been visited by typhoon Gener last week.
