Ateneo de Manila University confers Bukas Palad Award on Sr. Michelle Gamboa RGS

Sr. Mary Michelle Gamboa RGS will be conferred the Bukas Palad Award by the Ateneo de Manila during convocation to be held July 16, 3 p.m. at the Henry Lee Irwin Theatre, ADMU, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.  

The Bukas Palad Award is one of the the 2013 Traditional University Awards given to recognize the life and works of men nd women  in society who exemplify the valyues of the University. The Board of Trustess announced the following awardees: Lux-in Domino: Edmundo F. NolascoGovernment Service Award: Jesus M. Robredo (Posthumous)Parangal Lingkod Sambayanan - Christian S. Monsod Bukas Palad Award- Sr. Michelle L. Gamboa RGS Resil B. Morales - Gawad Tanglaw ng Lahi.

Sr. Michelle dedicated 50 years of her religious life empowering the poor and marginalized, teaching them sustainable agriculoture, financial management and other livelihhod skills to helpd them become self sufficient. From Bacolod and Muntinlupa to Davao and Agusan del Sur, she has helped thousands of farmers, sugar workers, prison inmates, rebel returnees, and indigenous peoples. Her commitment to uplift the lives of the rural poor in the remote and neglected regions of the country embodies the Ignatian spirit of generosity.
