The contemplative community in Butuan City marks on January 9, 2019 its silver jubilee.
It was then Butuan Bp. Carmelo Morelos who requested for a presence of the contemplative sisters of the Good Shepherd in the diocese to then Provincial coordinator Sr. Joan Salamanca RGS.
"The Sisters were to strive to make amends for the abuse of creation by witnessing to a life of prayer, solitude, silence and penance. It was an invitation the sisters could not ignore or resist. And so on January 9, 1994, the first contemplative community of sisters was founded in Agusan del Norte. Buhing Yuta which means "Living Earth" was the name given, it is a placeto pray and a space to care for Mother Easth."
Good Shepherd Sisters apostolic and contemplative, misison partners, priests, family and friends will gather in Butuan for the celebration.
