30th Mindanao Cluster Meeting <br>of Good Shepherd Sisters held in CDO

Eighteen
(18) Good Shepherd Sisters working in Mindanao are gathered in Cagayan de Oro City for the echo of the 2010 Local Leaders’
Meeting. The July 29-30 activity is the 30th Mindanao Cluster
Meeting.

On July
31, the sisters will also celebrate the birth anniversary of St. Mary Euphrasia,
foundress of  the Good Shepherd
congregation. Born on July 31, 1796 in Noirmoutier,
France
, Rose
Virginie Pelletier took the religious name of Mary of St. Euphrasia when she
entered the convent. She was canonized saint on May 2, 1940.

The
sisters are from the five apostolic communities, namely Good Shepherd  in Davao,
Pagadian, Kalilid, Iligan and Cagayan de Oro  and one contemplative community, Butuan.

Local leaders in Mindanao, Sr. Regina Pil - CDO, Sr. Diane Cabasagan -Davao, Sr. Edna Fuentes - Iligan, Sr. Alice Andres- Pagadian, Sr. Dinah Egpalina - CGS Butuan and Sr. Pilar Quemada - Kalilid and a member of the Province Leadership Team, planned and organized the meeting.

During
the echo, the topics presented during the Local Leaders’ Meeting are shared to
the sisters in the communities. The theme of the May 24-27 Local Leaders’
Meeting was, “Weaving New Pathways in Leadership,”

The
topics that are presented during the echo are St. Mary Euphrasia and the
Spirituality of Governance, reports of Ministry Team, SMEIDFI, MARTA,
Formation, and Centennial Committee.

The
conversation with Sr. Susan Chia, link apostolic councilor of the
Congregational Leadership Team to the Philippines,
is also part of the echo. She shared on the 2009 Congregational threads that
will guide the Good Shepherd Sisters in living out our mission during the next
five years. It is already a year since the 29th Congregational
Chapter was held in Angers,
France
.

During
the opening liturgy  for the Mindanao
cluster, the sisters affirmed that it is in God’s name that they gather and
celebrate., “ In God’s presence, let us welcome each other to this day of our
togetherness, a moment of sharing, a moment of enriching one another.  Here in this sacred space, we know ourselves
to be connected, touching and strengthening each other.”

Good
Shepherd Sisters in Mindanao work in various
ministries, including pastoral work and in programs for indigenous peoples, farmers,
work for migrants and their families, residential care, work with urban and
rural poor and in involvement in diocesan programs for women. The contemplative
community are one with the apostolic sisters in praying for the various
concerns in the ministry.
