Telling the Stories of the Shepherd : Birthday gift to St. Mary Euphrasia

In
celebration of the 214th birth anniversary of St. Mary Euphrasia on
July 31, the Research and Documentation Committee of the 2012 Centennial has
asked communities to submit vocation stories of sisters and their stories of
shepherding in the Philippine Province.

 Telling the Stories of the
Shepherd
, was
recommended as the first exercise of the new communities in the Philippines during the apostolic year 2010-2011.
The activity was suggested to the Province Leadership Team and presented to the
local leaders during the meeting held in May in Baguio City.

Putting
in writing the vocation stories of sisters and their experience of shepherding
is also in keeping with St. Mary Euphrasia’s legacy of  having a good grasp of the history of  the congregation.

In her
Conferences, Chapter 65, SME said:

 …you are treading on
ground with blessings…

There are few
religious orders for whom God has worked such prodigies of grace.

Gratitude to God
obliges you to write your annals.

In our Lord’s
words:  “Gather up the pieces so that
nothing is lost.”

St. Mary
Euphrasia wrote more than a thousand letters to her daughters in France and in various parts of the world where they were missioned.

The
sisters in the Philippines are encouraged to submit their stories by July 31, 2010. These stories will be
used by the Research and Documentation Committee for the Centennial Coffee table book and the 100 Stories of the Shepherd
that will be published in celebration of 100 years of Good Shepherd presence in
the country.

The committe is composed of Srs. Rosemary Bacaltos, Añanita Borbon, Gemma Dinglasan, Anallyn Esguera, Regina Kuizon and Fe Mendoza.

Community
activities in celebration of the centennial are also being gathered to come up
with a province list of events. The soft launching of the centennial was held
on October 3, 2009 and the main celebrations will be in 2012. The Closing Mass of the centennial will be on October 4, 2013.
